For Real Fire Protection.
To place an elaborate standpipe system In a building Is merely to begin the work of fire protection, says the Scientific American. To it effective, fire drills should be practised regularly. The hose should be unwound, valves opened and water actually turned on. Else, when the fire breaks oat, valves will stick and hose rotted through by disuse, SHU burst. > Under such conditions, the finest standpipe system is nothing mors than a delusion and a snare.
