New Argument for a Pension. An old lady called on a lawyer In San Francisco to ask him to have the United States government grant her a pension. She told a sad story of her destitution and added a glowing account of the heroism her husband bad displayed in the Civil war. “As 1 understand it,” said the pension attorney, “you afck for this pension in the name of the valiant services rendered to your country by your husband.” "No," replied the old lady. “I ask it in the name of God and his mercy.” “In that case,” said the lawyer, "I'll get yoa your pension. 1 have very few applications in that name.” —Pop-, alar Magazine.
