INDIANAPOLIS AUTO PARTY ARRESTED IN SHELBYVILLE.

Mail and Woman Accused of Forgery And Two Companions Held for ~ Failure to Pay Fines. Shelbyville, Ind., ' July 17.—Mrs. Clarence Campbell, Frank Richway, Oscar F. Green and Mrs. Clara Ballard, all of Indianapolis, are in jail in this city, having been arrested while “joy riding” Saturday night. The first two are being held to the grand jury on forgery charges and the latter two because they were unable to pay fines on statutory charges in the court of Mayor Hawkins today. Green and Mrs. Ballard say they are brother 'and sister. Mrs. Campbell was formerly a resident of this city. Last week while here on a visit she is alleged to have, forged the name of her brother, James McGinnis, to two building and loan orders, on which she obtained S4O. Then she returned to Indianapolis. Saturday evening she came back in a car hired from an Indianapolis taxicab company, bringing with her the three persons now keeping company with her at the jail. Chief of Police Manlove was told that the woman, aided by Richway, was going about the city trying to get the money on a check of $25, to which it is alleged the name of her brother was forged. Mrs. Ballard says her brother was never in trouble before and she pleaded in vain that he be allowed to return to his wife and child. . -
