ASKS POLICEMAN’S PARDON,

Paroled Prisoner Says Reformatory Life Has Changed Him. South Bend, Ind., July 17.—Receiving n pardon from the Indiana Reformatory, to which institution he had been sent following an attempt to murder Police Sergeant Harry E. Jennings, of South Bend, Carl Tarkls, 22 years old, returned to South Bend to ask the policeman’s forgiveness. “The reformatory has made a different man of me,” he told the officer, “and in the future my time will be spent in working and'studying, instead of on the streets.”
