Mr. and Mrs. Reed McCoy went to Rensselaer Wednesday. .> Several from here went to Michigan City Sunday on the excursion. Most of the early oats are cut and wheat threshing will begin in a few days. Mrs. Evaline Randle returned home Wednesday morning from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Josserand and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bussell took dinned with Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Armstrong in Barkley Sunday. “Doc” Nichols shipped some stock from McCoysburg Wednesday evening. He bought Wash Cook’s load of fat cattle. There has been two or three land buyers here this week. Surveying and looking over some land near McCoysburg. . < The Fourth was spent quietly at home by a large number of people this year on account of the intense heat. Some went to Francesville to witness the automobile race that took place on the old fair grounds in the afternoon. The racing did not seem to meet the approval of the crowd and some came home feeling that they did not receive their money’s worth. Roy Rogers had a blind horse get over balanced in some way Sunday evening and fall in the water tank, which was about half full of water. It fell on the standpipe, piercing its body just back of the foreleg, and died in a very short time. The family was away nt the time and did not come home until late that night on account of the intense heat
