Accuses Fish Commissioner Of Granting Dangerous Privilege.
With regard to the proposition of State Fish and Game Warden Miles to allow seining of rivers and lakes to remove undesirable fish, the Ft Wayne News raises considerable objection. The paper says: "George W. Miles, the state fish commissioner, is granting seining privileges to his friends over Indiana, 'to enable then to rid the stream! of carp and other undesirable fish.’ It is announced that already three hundred such permits are out and that others are being issued every day. “While the intention of Mr. Miles may be excellent, his judgment is not, and his action is open to the severest sort of criticism. It is true that a certain portion of those seiners will act legally and honestly, hut it is a foregone conclusion that others will employ the privilege to sweep all life from the streams, all fish being ‘undesireable* that comes to net If the streams are to be seined to rid them of undesirable fish, this work should be done under the close supervision q? regular officers of the state and not entrusted to every Tom, Dick and Harry, seeking under the pretext of patriotism a permit to engage In piracy.” —i..
