Intelligent Dog.

A few days ago the fireman on the L. & N. train while crossing the trestle between Drakesboro and Elk Valley, saw a bird dog in-front of the train on the trestle. It was too far for the dog to get to the end of the trestle before the train overtook IL and there was no way of getting off without leaping to the ground. Most humans would have chanced the ground, but on a trestle there is considerable space between the engine and the ties. ao crouching down in the middle of the track the dog waited for the train. The tram pasted over him and the dog got up and proceeded on his way to the end of the trestle. —Queensboro (Ky.) Inquirer.
