Nichols poor farm superintendent for two years at a salary of S7OO per year. He ia ordered to give bond in the sum of SI,OOO. The superintendent filed his Teport for the quarter ending May 31. It shows the value of the personal property on hand to be $6,015; receipts of the quarter to be $787.94; expenses, $844.36; number of inmates, 14. The county board of finance reported interest due on county funds as follows: For April, Bank of Wheatfleld, $16.74; May. Bank of Wheatfleld, $26 - 93; First National of Rensselaer, $129.27; Trust and Savings Bank, $63.12; State Bank of Renaselaer, $74.11. The county officers reported fees collected for the quarter aa follows: Sheriff, $219.62; clerk, $288.90; recorder. $787; auditor, $90.65. The trustee of Milroy township was directed to have a bridge repaired and file bill for same with the auditor. The auditor was directed to give notice of letting contract for coal for the county heating plant and tin county poor farm. The contract for poor farm supplies for the ensuing quarter was let as follows: Roth Bros., meats, $25; John Eger, groceries, $156.31; E. VanArdsel, dry goods, $38.55.
No bids were filed for the construction of the Keener township gravel road and the matter was continued to the July term. This is the road that has been advertised several times, and the bids have all been in excess of the estimate. It looks like if tbe contract Is ever let the estimate will have to be raised considerably. Other business was disposed of as follows: The auditor was directed to give notice of letting the contract for two bridges In Barkley and two in Hanging Grove township. Everett Halatead «t al. Petition for gravel or stone road. Auditor directed to give notice as required by law, July 3rd being set for hearing. Reuben C. Yeoman, petition for road improvement. Same action as above. Frank M. Reed, petition for ditch. Remonatratora withdraw objections. Petition referred to drainage commissioners and George Foulka as third commissioner, who are ordered to meet at the auditor’s office and qualify on or before the second day of the July term. E. C. Maxwell et al. Petition for ditch. Auditor presents assessment sheet filed May 22. 1911. The board fixed Sept. 20, on or before, in which assessments may be paid and land relieved. Bonds are to be issued for unpaid assessments after that date. Wm. B. McNeil, petition for drain in Wheatfleld township. Cause continued for objections. Harry E. Gifford, petition for ditch. Board finds benefits exceed cost Assessments confirmed. Ditch ordered established. L. P. Shlrer appointed construction commissioned and ordered to file bond in the sum of S3OO. Expense account approved and ordered paid. Attorney fee of S7O allowed. Construction commissioner ordered to retain 25 per cent until ditch is completed. James H. Chapman filed objections to the proposed gravel road in Jordan township. The cause was continued by agreement of all parties interested to July 24th.
