Study Club Meets.
The Study club met with Miss Ethel Greene Monday, May 15th. Mrs. Hartman gave a review of Chap. 14 and 15 in “Studies in Dickens." Miss O'Bell discussed Chap. XI in “Social Ideals in English Letters." The annual election was held, resulting in the re-election of all the old officers except the secretary, which office will be held by Miss Gertrude Besse for the year 1911-12. The course next season is “American."
The Club met Monday, May 22nd, the last session of the year, with Mrs. Hargreaves. Several new names were accepted tor membership, looking toward Recognition Day exercises the first week of Fountain Park assembly, when anyone in this section of Indiana who has completed four years of the Chautauqua work, may pass through the arches and graduate with the Remington class.
Although Muncie, the largest dry city in Indiana, recently voted by a majority of 563 to restore the licensed saloons to the city, the drys are circulating petitions to make the city dry by re.uonstrances and say they have obtained a majority of voters’ signatures In three of the six wards The wets have now formed a permanent organization and have begun an active campaign to keep what they have won by election.
