TWO PITCHING STARS MEET
Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson Greet Each Other for First Tims at Atlanta. * Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson, the pitching kings, met for the first time In Atlanta, and had a long talk. Each Is a great admirer of the other. Johnson asked Matty how he throws his fadeaway ball, and the giant star took particular pains to show Just how he handles his best fooler. Johnson said he believed he would try It. “Go ahead, and good luck to you,” said Matty. “If the fadeaway does you as much good as It has done me you will win a lot more games with all your speed and control.” Matty learned a lesson from the American league king. Johnson has a way of his own of snapping the ball when he uses his fast one. He showed Matty how he does it. There has been a lot of talk about a pitching duel between the two kings. They had a good laugh when It was mentioned.
