Poole Escaped Hanging Once on Technicality.
Attorney Dan Fraser, of Fowler, Who has boon here as attorney in the Fountain Park assembly case, left for home today. While at The Republican office he related a number of incidents concerning the past reputation of Poole, the alleged murderer, and he thinks that Poole has been responsible for a number of.murders. The report that Poole w%s one time sent to the insane asylum for murder' is not altogether correct. He was sent to the insane asylum before the murder took place, and was out on parole when the man jnet his death on a bridge near Poole’s home, Toole was arrested and tried for the murder. The evidence was strong against him and would h%ve resulted *n conviction but for the ruling of the court. The late Judge Thompson Was on the bench and held that as the records showed that Poole was in the insane asylum at the time, he could not have been at the scene of the crime and Instructed the Jury to acquit, which they did. Poole was then returned to the asylum and later again released, and it is understood that he is still out on parole, never having been legally discharged. Mr. Fraser does not think he will escape, this time, on the plea of insanity, however. ~
