Australia Discovered In 1499.

Melbourne. —M. Petherich, curator In Itbe historical branch of the federal parliamentary library, claims to possess crowning proofs that Australia was discovered in the year 1499 by Florentine Amerigo Vespucci. It was in the year 1499 that Amerigo Vespucci visited the American continent, only seven years after Columbus had first sighted it. The preclsse date of discovery of Australia has hitherto been doubtful.
