Rebel Leader Demands That Diaz Resign as President.
Spurning pleas an armistice looking to a peaceful termination of the internal affairs of the republic 'bf Mexico, Francisco I. Madero, provisional president and leader of the insurrecto movement, Thursday declared that he would give President Diaz just twenty-four hours in which to resign from office. Madero’s alternative is an assault upon Juarez, just across the border from ElPaso, Texas. With his force completely surrounding the city the rebel leader feels he is in a position to dictate terms, and unless these terms be granted he is certain he will be able to capture the important port of entry across the Rio Grande. Unless he receives assurances from Dias General Madero declared he would begin the attack on Juarez at 3 o’clock today.
