Chicago Election Held Today; Outcome Very Much In Doubt.

The mayorality election in Chicago is being held today. The polls opened at 6 o’clock this morning and will close at 4 this afternoon. The leading candidates are Carter H. Harrison, democrat, four times elected mayor of Chicago, and Charles E. Merrlam, republican, a member of the faculty of the University of Chicago, and a courageous young man of masterfu mind and a knowledge of politics that has surprised both his friends and his opponents. The result is very much in doubt
