Tale of Tailless Hens.
Winsted, Conn. —“Talking about henß,” said a Watertown man the other day, “you ought to see Jacob ftelmo’s tailless flock of 60 biddies. Jacob said he cut the tails off Just for fun, but others who claim to know say that Jacob and one of his neighbors had a dispute over the ownership of a certain hen and, to prevent any more controversy, Jacob waited until his flock had gone to bed and then with a pair of shears made each one plainly distinguishable from his neighbor** birds.”
