Marjorie Hascall is back in school, after an attack of chicken pox. The Sew and Sew Club meets with Mrs. Walter Johnson January 27th. Joe Viilinski attended the torn school at Purdue University last week. Mrs. Barnes was in Wolcott between trains Friday morning. The special meetings in the Methodist church closed Friday night. A club dance was given in 4 the new dance hall Tuesday evening. Mrs. Rayfnond, of St. Anne, 111., has been visiting relatives here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fell spent last week in Lafayette. Clarence Parks went to Lafayette Friday noon. The Presbyterian ladies’ Industrial society meets with Mrs. Gass Thursday, January 26th. The Sew and Sew Club held a business session last Friday at the home of the president, Mrs. W. E. Peck. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gilbert are at home in the Allman property on South Ohio street. Mrs. Frank Jordan has-been ill with an attack of pleurisy. Her daughter Mary has the chicken pox. Mrs. Shellen, of Goodland, is making an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. Rowe Robinson. Mrs. A. A. Fell returned from a visit in the southern part of the state Friday evening. Mrs. Fred Bishop returned to her home in Council Bluffs, lowa, a month’s visit, with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bowman entertained at dinner Friday night. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Balcom and Dr. Besser. Mrs. Markham, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Beal, went to Wolcott Monday, and on Tuesday to Camden. Cards are out announcing the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Little at their home Saturday, January 21st. Mr. Lockabill returned from Watseka the first of last week and immediately began packing his household goods preparatory to moving to Milford, 111. Miss Zephyr Crabb and Mr. Wni. Beeks were called to Chenoa last Thursday to attend the funeral of a cousin on Friday. Mr. Beeks returned Saturday. Miss Zephyr will remain for a more extended visit. Mrs. Eva Locke Dodge was taken to the Presbyterian hospital in Chicago Monday by her husband for an operation. Mother Locke will care for the family in the absence of the parents, and Frank Gass will care for the farm interested
Mrs. Jas. Couch, Mrs. A. J. Fetters and Mrs. Fred Taylor, of Kentland, were guests of the Women Catholic Foresters upon the installation of officers Saturday afternoon, January 14th. A banquet and social followed the work. Miss Corinne Roy and Mr. Ed Lehmann were married Wednesday evening, January 11th, at 8 o’clock in the Catholic manse, Father Schmitz officiating. They are at home in'the Reed property on Indiana street. Miss Mabel Roy, of Fowler, was present at the ceremony. The Presbyterian Woman’s Missionary society met with Mrs. Bartlett Saturday, January 14th. “Our Work for Emigrants” was read by Mrs. Frank Peck for Mrs. George Bartee. Mrs. Tyler gave a review of “Picket Lines in Missions.” A storiette, “That Annual Report,” was read by Mr 3. Chas. Gass. Mrs. Yeoman read “The True Story of Pandita Ramabi.” Mrs. Daniel Biddle visited her brother, Clark Bartee, and wife, in Lafayette from Wednesday noon to Thursday evening, and was accompanied home by her sister, Mrs. A Atwood, of Downer’s Grove, 111., who had been making a week's visit with their brother, Clark, and will spend a week with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. George Bartee gave a family dinner Saturday. On Friday afternoon, January 13th, the ladies of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 169 assembled in greet secrecy at the outer door of the Masonic hall, and when the Masons disbanded they encountered a merry group of Stars, who immediately took possession and proceeded to spread a feast “fit for the gods.”- The brother Masons showed their appreciation in toasts and addresses, which gave evidence of the strong tie which binds these two orders.
