Carroll County Farmer Pays High for Kissing Widow.

At Lafayette a few days ago a jury returned a verdict for damages in favor of Mrs. Martha Kenrick in the sum of $675, against Jacob Timmons, a wealthy old farmer. Mrs. Kenrick alleged that he had come to her home and insulted her. Timmons tried to show that he had been enticed to the home by Mrs. Kenrick’s daughter and that he offered Mrs. Kenrick $L for a kiss. He said that she accepted and gave him several “busses” and he was satisfied with the bargain, but when action was brought against him the bargain did not look so attractive. The offended widow was represented in her suit by Robert C. Pollard, of Delphi, and Joseph B. Ross, of Lafayette, and the defendant by Reynolds & Sill, of Monticello, and Chas. E. Thompson, of Lafayette.
