Next Lecture Course Number Will Be Thursday, Jan. 19th.

The next lecture course nhmber wil* be by Booth Lowrey, a southern humorist-lecturer, who is highly rec- . ommended and who will evidently be up to the standard of the previous excellent numbers. He will be at the Methodist church Thursday evening, January 19th. The Democrat would like to have the Republican inform the axious public when suits are to be instituted to recover from the Winamac Bridge Co. the amounts it has swindled the taxpayers of Jasper county out of on Its contracts here. The Republican does not know that suits of that Find will be instituted. We do not know that this paper suggested almost a year ago that if there was any means of compelling that company to be financially liable for any alterations by which the county had lost, proceedings should be instituted to bring that result about. We know that the Jasper County Democrat in making its fight against the Republican candidates for commissioner pointed out the failure of the board to order suits of that kind. And the people know that since Jan. Ist one member of the board df county commissioners has been a democrat. The Democrat might with propriety address its inquiry to this member of the board of commissioners, who was elected on the campaign against the members of the board whose terms were expiring. Since this was the platform that resulted in the elecion of democratic commissioners, we believe that the Jasper County Democrat should look for this action from those members, and we do not consider it impertinent to suggest that the Democrat urge this action through the new commissioner.
