>Elmore Barce, of Fowler, who changed his politics last year and became a democrat for the alleged purpose of getting the appointment as county attorney from a democratic board of commissioners, has now been elected county attorney by a republican board, and presumably has crawled back into the republican wagon. Sam Leffaw, of Boswell, who is regular all the time, thinks it a funny thing that Benton- county republicans reward a man who deserts the party in a time of need and then comes sneaking back when there are any plums to bestow. Elmore’s acrobatic stunt is difficult to understand and the acion of the commissioners is even more difficult of solution. We are opposed to the purchase of converts by giving out the appointments that properly belong to some loyal man who his voted the ticket.
The weatherman has failed absolutely to call the turn on the weather the last few days. His cold wave never reached us and instead the weather has been rainy and springlike, but gloomy and disagreeable. In some places in the country the roads have broken through and travel is almost impossible. Colder tfeatl er would be welcomed and probably mere healthful than the damp and chill of the present. The forecast for today indicates fair weather and colder for this section of Indiana. It really looks as though the weatherman was trying to be good to us.
