PRESIDENT TAFT'S INSPECTION OF ELLIS ISLAND
NEW 'YORK. The government officials at Ellis Island are much pleased with the recent visit paid by President Taft to that place where all would-be citizens from foreign lands are landed and examined. The president was greatly interested in the immigrants, looked carefully Into conditions on the island and knade a number of suggestions for the benefit of the foreigners cooped up there. In several cases he recommended greater latitude In the interpretation of the regulations governing the admission of immigrants.
