ELECTION ORDERED TO VOTE ON RAILROAD SUBSIDY.
County Attorney Directed to Bring Suit at Once to Recover Money Alleged ot Be Due County—• Commissioners’ Court Proceedings. The county commissioners completed the business of the November term Wednesday, having adjourned one day for the election. The contract for four bridges in Union township was let to the Joliet Bridge company for $2,844.30. The contractors are required to complete the bridges on or before January 1, 1911. The matter of letting the contract for the Snip stone road was again continued, no bids having been filed. The auditor was directed to advertise for new bids, contract to be let at the December term. The report of special engineer C, J. Hobbs, of he Iroquois ditch, was received and accepted. The report shows the ditch completed according to contract with the exception of the Gifford lateral. The auditor was directed to draw a warrant for $25,(100 in favor of the contractors, C. H. Sternberg & Sons, balance $8,712.80 to be retained until the fill is removed. The report agrees with that of the regular engineer, M. B. Price. The fill-in was Caused by the muck which had been thrown out in the first place washing back into the river before the ditch was completed. The auditor was directed to give notice of letting the contract 'or office supplies, also for supplies for the poor farm. A bond for $5,000 was filed by the Indiana Northwestern Traction company guaranteering to commence work on an interurban road in Marion town • ship within 30 days after the election, if it carries. An election was ordered in Marion township for December 20th to vote on the proposition of a 1% per cent subsidy in favor of the road. Interest on county funds was reported as follows. Davis et al. petition for the improvement of the Jungles ditch. Auditor presents certified copy of order and judgment of the circuit court. The report was approved and the construction commissioner was ordered to proceed without delay with the construction. k The county treasurer reported that he coUected-$6:125.15 of the assessments on the Meadel ditch, and the auditor was directed to issue bonds for all unpaid assessments. D. W. Waymire tendered his resignation as drainage commissioner, which was accepted. The county attorney was directed to bring suit within ten days to collect certain sums alleged to be due the county from certain county officers. as, reported by W. E. Heal, "the expert who w r as employed some months ago to examine the county records.
