Is John B. Peterson a Corporation Lawyer? A Question for Frank E. Babcock to Answer. Mr. Peterson stated in his speech in Rensselaer that he was not a regular attorney for any corporation and had never been. Ihe following blackface type is a verbatim reprint of a letter Mr. Peterson wrote to Baughman & Williams, of Rensselaer, on Dec. 15,1906, in reply to a letter that firm had written to him to ask dim to aid them in a law suit. Mr. Peterson’s letter will come as'a confession that he considered himself almost exclusively occupied with corporation work. The letter is at The Republican office, where it can be seen by any person m Jasper county or the 10th congressional district. It was written by John B. Peterson and is over his signature. * j The letter reads: Office of % JOHN B. PETERSON / Crown Point, Indiana w D , 0 ....... Dec. 15, 1906. Mess. Baughman & Williams, Rensselaer, Ind. Gentlemen: Yours of Dec. 14th relating to the case of Spitler et ad. vs. Grady et al. received. Owing to my relations with certain railroads and other corporations, lam unable to accept employment in this case. My tim. is taken up almost exclusively by corporation work. I shall, therefore, have to decline your kind offer. I appreciate, however, your good will, and as you are probably not thoroughly acquainted with all the lawyers liere, I would suggest to you the name of Mr. J. Frank Meeker, as a reliable mar. who will undoubtedly be willing to give you such assistance as you need here. I have no hesitancy in recommending him. I think if you suggest to him that he has been recommended by me, he will give the matter very careful attention. Very truly yours, JOHN B. PETERSON.
