Culinary Hints.

A teaspoonful of ginger in two gallons of cider will, it is said, keep it sweet for several months. When frying mush, it Is said that dipping the slices first into the white of an egg makes them crisper. A few allspice are an improvement to stews, thick soups and gravy. They gtve almost the same flavor as If wine had been added. Vegetables cooked in a steamer are actually more nourishing than those boiled in the ordinary way. If gelatine must be softened quickly, pour cold water over the gelatine, and heat over boiling water until it Is dissolved. Celery roots boiled in plain water, chilled and dressed with French dressing, make excellent and cheap winter salads.
