Mrs. John Goetz has been in very poor health lately. .Mrs. Julia A Healey was taken quite s'ick Sunday afternoon, but is today somewhat improved. V. A Milroy, of Olympia, Wash., who came here to witness the unveiling of the monument dedicated to his father; Gen. Robert H. Milroy, and the soldiers of Jasper county, and who has been spending some time visiting relatives in Delphi, came to Rensselaer Saturday evening for a short visit before returning to his western home. The Knox county council by a vote of 6 to 1 late Tuesday appropriated $50,000, the legal limit, for the erection of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ monument on the court house square in Vincennes. The vote followed a five hours’ debate over the G. A R.’s petition for the monument which was signed by four thousand taxpayers of the county.

Fremont Goodwin, of Williamsport, ex-state senator and candidate for lieutenant-governor on the republican ticket two years ago, has sold his house in Williamsport and gone to Natchez, Miss., where he will make his future home. He owns a plantation df seventeen thousand acres, forty miles from that city. R. T. Huston, of Frankfort, head of the board of control of the Michigan City prison, stated Thursday that he is not a candidate for the wardenship, report to the contrary notwithstanding.
