Girl at Gifford Died Suddenly of Diphtheria.

A death occurred this Monday morning at Gifford, the cause being diphtheria. The 17-year-old daughter of James Jerries was the victim. It seems that she had been working in a home at Newland, where the diphtheria existed, but it was believed that sufficient precaution had been taken to prevent her having the disease. It is stated that she went to her home Sunday feeling slightly indisposed and that she became worse that evening and died Monday morning, only a few hours after being first taken sick. A Rensselaer physician was called there this moi ning and the house will be placed under quarantine.
