Be it ordained by the com- i mon council of the city of Rensselaer, < Indiana, that it shall be unlawful for < any person to connect any hydrant be- i longing to said city with any private < sewer for the purpose of flushing same, < except as hereinafter provided. It shall < be the duty of any perspn desiring to < flush any private sewer with city water < to first pay to the treasurer of said city < the sum of four ($4.00) dollars for each < sewer to be flushed, and it shall be the < duty of said treasurer to issue to the < person so paying said sum, a receipt < therefor showing said payment and for 1 what purpose said payment'was made, ' together with a description of the lot < containing said sewer. The person thus ' obtaining said receipt shall thereupon " deliver the same to the city 'marshal, ' who with the city teamster, shall pro- ' ceed to flush the sewer described in said ' receipt, and said marshal is nereby ' authorized and empowered to use so ' much of the city fire hose as Is neces- ' sary for that purpose; provided how- ' ever, that the marshal shall use only ' such fire hose for flushing purposes as ' the chief of the fire department shall ' designate and not otherwise. Upon the . completion of said work It shall be the duty of the marshal and teamster to 1 immediately convey said hose to the ' hose tower where the same shall be by ' them cleaned, dried and properly cared 1 for and such fact reported by the mar- ' S u a i, Vi. the flf® chief. The marshal 1 shall thereupon deliver said receipt to ' the city clerk, who shall file same and ' make report thereof to the council at ' its next regular meeting. < Section 2. All money thus received 1 by the treasurer shall be by him turned 1 into the city treasury and credited to ' the corporation and water funds in the ' following proportions, to-wit: The one- ' half (%) part thereof to the corporation fund and the remainder to the ' water fund. ■ Section 3. Any person violating any ' of the provisions of this ordinance shall ' be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and ' upon conviction therof shall be fined ' not less than one ($1.00) dollar nor ' more than ten ($10.00) dollars.
