OKPXMAjrCX mo. 134. An Ordinance ragulating th* flushing of . ?o^odOT J »n emergency. Section 1. Be it ordained by the common council of the city of Rensselaer, Indiana, that it shall be unlawful for any person to connect any hydrant belonging to said city with any private sewer for the purpose of flushing same, except as hereinafter provided. It shall be the duty of any person desiring to flush any private sewer with city water to first pay to the treasurer of said city, the sum of four ($4.00) dollars for each sewer to be flushed, and it shall be the duty of said treasurer to issue to the person so paying said sum, a receipt therefor showing said payment and for what purpose said payment was made, together with a description of the lot containing said sewer. The person thus obtaining said receipt shall thereupon deliver the same to the city marshal, who with the city teamster, shall proceed to flush the sewer described in said receipt, and said marshal is hereby authorized and empowered to use so much of the city fire hose as is neces? sary for that purpose; provided however, that the marshal shall use only such fire hose for flushing purposes as the chief of the fire department shall designate and not otherwise. Upon the completion of said work it shall be the duty of the marshal and teamster to 'immediately convey said hose to the hose tower where the same shall be by them cleaned, dried and properly cared for and such fact reporteq by the marshaJ, to the fire chief. The marshal shall thereupon deliver said receipt to the city clerk, who shall file same and make report thereof to the council at its next regular meeting. Section 2. All money thus received by the treasurer shall be by him turned into the city treasury and credited to the corporation and water funds in the following proportions, to-wit: The one2. (H) part thereof to the corporation fund and the remainder to the water fund. Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction therof shall be fined not less than one ($1.00) dollar nor more than ten ($10.00) dollars. Section 4.
