Evening Republican, Volume 14, Number 126, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 27 May 1910 — An Explanation. [ARTICLE]
An Explanation.
The statement appearing in the last semi-weekly issue of the Republican under the heading, “Do you think it right?", seems to be liable to misinterpretation. It is true that several own. ers of automobiles assisted in the con. veyance of passengers to and from* the college on the occasion of the dedication exercises, but this was done with* out charge, and upon a special request and with the knowledge and consent of Mr Wasson. - Owing to a mistake in ordering these automobiles these was some interference with the regular bus business, but in another instance, several people, including a bishop and other dignitaries, would have been unable to leave on that day, if I had not secured a number of automobiles at the last moment. If there were any who took advantage of this occasion to deprive Mr. Wasson of some business, I should very much regret it, but there was no intention on the part of the college to do so, nor that ©f its friends who had been asked to assist, as an accommodation to the niore distinguished visitors.
ARNOLD F. WEYMANN.
