As to Thermometers.
Neither the mercury or the alcohol thermometer is good .for measuring extreme temperatures because of their freezing and boiling points. Mercury freezes at 39 degrees centigrade, below zero. .gjcohol freezes at 130 degrees centigrade, below zero. They cannot be used in measuring high temperatures because. of their low boiling points.
