Arrested at Kentland for Forgery And Lodged in Jail in Rensselaer.
Ernest Strickler, a youth of 19 years who is 6 feet high and without a home or a relative on earth according to his story, was arrested in Kentland Monday on a charge of forgery and brought here and lodged in jail. According to the statement furnished Sheriff Shirer, he had been working on the railroad and had a balance of $4.75 due him. He would have received it within a few days, but wanted the money sooner. He is alleged to have written a check for that sum and signed the name of James Whitaker to it and then to have passed it on a restaurant keeper. He Will probably be tried at the May term of the Newton circuit court.
