Arrested at Kentland for Forgery And Lodged in Jail in Rensselaer.
Ernest Strickler, a youth of 19 years , who is 6 feet high and without a home or a relative on earth according to his story, was arrested in Kentland Monday on a charge of forgery and brougt here and lodged in jail. He is charged with forgery. According to the statement furnished Sheriff Shirer the young man had been working on the railroad and had a balance of $4.75 due him. He would have received it within a few days, but wanted the money sooner.' He is alleged to have written a check for that sum and signed the name of James Whitaker to it and then to have passed it on a restaurant keeper.
