Aged Resident of Newton County Passed Away Sunday Evening.
John Jenkinson, 89 years of age arid a resident ?f Jackson township, in Newton county, passed away Sunday evening at about 6 o’clock, at his farm residence near the Press Roberts farm. Saturday he was in Mt. Ayr and was so frail that he could hardly walk. He saw Undertaker W. J. Wright there and told him that he would have a trip for him in a few days. Mr. Wright replied that he guessed it would be a good while yet before he would have to go, but he said, “No, you’ll have to come after me in a day or two.” He was extremely good natured and was apparently joking, as was his custom, but it proved to be true. He was twice mar* Tied and has several grown children by his first wife and he has four by the second ■wife, whom he married fifteen years ago. His funeral will take place from the house at 2 o'clock Tuesday and burial will be made in Weston cemetery, in Rensselaer, where his first wife was also buried.
