Hugh Brosnan Died Feb. 22nd In a Little Rock Hospital.
Hugh Brosnan, for many years a resident of Union township and a well known citizen of this county for many years, died on Feb. 22nd, in a hospital at Little Rock, Ark. Although friends of the man here had learned of his death, the news had in some manner escaped the newspapers. About a year ago Mr. Brosnan held a public sale and moved to Ricardo, N. Mex., where he bought a relinquishment and also filed on another claim of 160 acres. He was not married but his sister, Miss Johanna Brosnan, accompanied him to the southwest and .was keeping house for him. He was taken ill early in February and on the recommendation of his doctor, he started to Hot Springs, Ark., for treatment. He was very weak and when he reached Little Rock he was so sick that he could not complete the trip and he was taken to a hospital where his death occurred. His sister, who had been his housekeeper for several years, Is of unsound mind and Hugh had been her guardian and was in charge of SBOO belonging to her. Frank Brusnahan, who is a former Union township boy and who is practicing law at Ricardo, interested himself on behalf of the poor woman and accompanied her here last week. Today she was taken by Attorney Honan to the Catholic sisters’ home at Lafayette and she will temporarily be taken care of there %ntil the condition of her brother’s affairs can be inquired into by Mr. Brusnahan, who will be appointed Miss Brosnan’s guardian. It is understood that he neglected to properly file proof of the relinquishment he bought and there may be some difficulty in establishing his rights. It is fortunate that Mr. Brusnahan will be right there on the ground to look after his interests. When matters are adjusted it is expected to provide a permanent residence for the afflicted sister at an old ladies’ home.
