Proceedings of County Commissioners at the March Term.

Contract for the Pullins bridge awarded to the Attica Bridge Co. for $1222.00. Joliet Bridge Co. bid $1262.50 and Winamac Bridge Co. bid $1253.00. Auditor directed to give notice of letting of contract for 2 thirty foot and 1 twenty-five foot bridge, all in Walker township. Contracts to be awarded the first day of April term. Board finds that the total cost chargeable to Carpenter township for the construction of the Fox stone road, between Benton, Jasper and Newton counties, to be $5300.00, and ordered bonds, in 20 equal series of $265.00 each, with interest at 5 per cent, payable annually. Stone road petitioned for by Tunis Snip et al. continued for additional notice. Notice found sufficient in petition for opening highway in Keener township. Board appoints viewers as follows: John O’Connor, John E. Meyers and Asa Brown, who are directed to meet at the office of Samuel McGinnis and qualify and make report on or before the April term. Supt. filed final report in W. J. Reed ditch, which is approved and superintendent is discharged. No remonstrance being filed in the Dunker ditch, same is found to be of public utility and assessments confirmed and same established. W. Frank Osborne appointed superintendent, who is directed to file bond in sum of $500.00. George Williams allowed attorney fee of $35.00. No remonstrance being filed in the Prouty ditch, the petition is examined and found sufficient and referred to drainage commissioners to make report. D. W. Waymire declining to act, the board appointed A. K. Yeoman as special drainage commissioner and Stephen Kohley as third commissioner, who are directed to meet at Auditor’s office March 14th and qualify and file report on or before April 6th. No remonstrance being filed in the Maxwell -ditch, same proceedings as above. Jungles ditch transcript from circuit court presented and report referred to drainage commissioners Price .and Waymire to amend same and have same on file on first day of April term. Notice ordered to all new parties affected. The contract for stationery supplies awarded to Burt-Haywood and signed. Contract for supplies for county farm awarded to John Eger for groceries, $149.73 and G. B. Porter for dry goods, $52.15. Roth Bros., steak, 15c per pound, boiling meat, 10c pound. Quarterly report of county farm examined and approved. Expenses, $628.64, reseipts, $439.34. Quarterly report of auditor examined and approved. Fees collected, $93.30. Quarterly report of recorder examined and approved. Fees collected., $684.45. Quarterly report of clerk examined and approved. Fees collected, $253.15.

Quarterly report of sheriff examined and approved. Fees collected $304.74, fees earned, $419.21. Chas. Henderson appointed superintendent of gravel roads in Gillam township district No. 1.
