John Ade, of Kentland. father of George Ade. enclosed a check for $5 to Mrs. M. E. Thompson -under date cf March 9th, for the soldiers’ monument, and wrote as follows: “I thank you ve’*y much foV your letter ot the Bth instant, for I assure you I consider it a -privilege to have a part, although it may be'small, in doing something to honor the memory of such men as General Milroy and his noble associates. I have a double reason to be-glad of this opportunity. One is his valuable services during the civil war, which has conferred upon us who are still living untold blessings, and also from the fact of the personal friendship existing between us during his residence in Rensselaer. I also wish to thank you for the personal interest you have taken in this matter.” . Nice leaf lettuce for this week, 15c a pound. • , JOHN EGER.
