The Vac-Jac “Fireless Cooker.” There is nothing mysterious or weird in Fireless Cooking. The principle involved Is as old as civilization. . It must be remembered that no Fireless Cooker .generates heat, it merely retains the heat generated by the usual methods employed in every day cooking, thus saving hours of cooking on the stove. The Vac-Jac being made entirely of metal, is perfectly hygienic and sanitary. It should be kept clean and dry, with the same care that is given any kitchen utensil, and when not in use should be left open to the air. Why You Steed a Vac-Jac Tireless Cooker. It will reduce your fuel bill about 80 per cent or more. It will give you your afternoons to yourself, instead of keeping you in or near the kitchen. It will keep all odors of cooking out of the house. No more smell from onions, cabbage or cauliflower than from boiled rice. It will never scorch or burn food. Food can never be overcooked in a Vac-Jac Cooker. It will reduce your meat bills. You can make old chicken tender. Tough artd cheap cuts of meat as palatable as the more expensive ones. It will keep the flavor of meats and vegetables better than any other method of cooking. In ordinary cooking a great deal of the flavor escapes with the steam. In the Vac-Jac, all the flavor is retained. It will keep the meal hqt for several hours after it has been thoroughly cooked, if for any reason the serving of It is delayed. It will not heat up the kitchen in hot weather.
Why a Vac-Jac Cooker la the Best Cooker. 'the Vac-Jac Cooker is made without any cushions of felt, excelsior, asbestos or other substances to become saturated with steam and odors of cooking-, which will in time snjell, offensively and become unsanitary. ... The‘Vac-Jac is made entirely of metal, and has no wooden box or cabinet around It to become warped by heat, and get out of shape and useless. The Vac-Jac Is made of heavy rust proof galvanized metal with solid aluminum utensils, and will last for years. Many other metal cookers are made of light metal and will rust out In a very short time. . , , The Vac-Jac is the only Cooker which can be scoured and cleaned the same as any kitchen utensil. - -—-- - The Vac-Jac Is the only Cooker depending on vacuum for Insulation. vac- , uum Is the most perfect Insulation. ? Therefore, the Vac-Jac Cooker .will cook food quicker and keep It hot longer than any other cooker on the market. GEORGE FATE Agant, BanntlMr, Indiana.

The Second Monthly Horse Sale Attracts a Large Crowd.
A large crowd of people attended the second monthly horse sale in Rensselaer today. Horses were brought in from Wheatfield, Tefft, Morocco, Mt. Ayr, Brook, Remington and other places, as well as from the surrounding country. There was a considerable degree of independence among the horse owners, who seemed to hold the horses higher in many instances than the buyers were willing to pay. However, a number of sales had been made up to 2 o’clock and the stables and hitch barns were filled with horses and surrounded with people. The buyers claim that 200 horses changed hands at Monticello yesterday.

Gifford Ballroad Is Curtailing Expenses by Seduction of Agents.
F. E. Lewis, superintendents of the Wabash Valley railroad, the Gifford line, has issued an order which dispenses with all the agents of the road except at junction points. According to this order there will be no station agents in the future at Pleasant Grove, Newland, Gifford and Laura, but offices will be maintained at McCoysburg and Kersey. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Imes will leave on the early train Thursday morning for Indianapolis, where they expect to make their future home. Their many friends in Rensselaer, made during their long residence here, will regret their departure and join the Republican in wishing them abundant success in their new home. For the past thirteen years and two months, he has been the secretary of the Rensselaer Masonic lodge, leaving a record for efficiency that will make him greatly missed in that order.
Over the signature of Marshal Davis and at the direction of the city council, notice is given about the enforcement of City Ordinance No. 19, which makes it a misdemeanor to throw rubbish, cans, ashes, etc., in streets or alleys. Citizens should cooperate with the officers in getting Rensselaer cleaned up early this spring and keeping it in good shape all summer. Let us make Rensselaer a model city for cleanliness this year. Everyone can help by keeping his own premises right. Get started early and don’t let ep all summer. The Pennsylvania company has purchased the land and prepared plans for the erection of a handsome passenger station at Ft. Wayne to be modeled closely after the station at Allegheny, Pa
