Verdi and Bismarck on Titles.
The composer Verdi was offered a* title of nobility by King Victor Emmanuel. It was intended that he should be created Marquis or Comte do Busseto, after the estate upon which he lived. The composer refused the offer energetically. He considered that Verdi was somebody and that the Marquis de Busseto would be nobody. • Even Bismarck was unable to parry -•l** of this character.
