Mainea & Hamilton. Phone 273. •v - The finding of a broken rail by Charles Wartzler, a Lake Shore section hand, Tuesday morning saved the Twentieth Century Limited from peril. The broken rail was at the junction of the Lake Shore and Big Four tracks, directly in front of the station at Goshen. A piece a foot long was taken out at the frog. J. J. Bauer, democratic caucus nominee for president of the Ft. Wayne city council, was “double crossed” by the republicans and unknown democrats Tuesday night, and Gustave C. Rogge, a machinist in the shops of which Bauer is foreman, was elected in his place. A banquet ordered by Bauer was thrown away. The best soft coal on the market— Pluto-Cannal. MAINES & HAMILTON. A superior court jury at Evansville awarded Thomas Albright, of Shoals, Ind., SSOO judgment against the Illinois Central railroad for having been put off a train at BrownsAue, La-, while he and his wife were homeward bound from Texas. The conductor said they were riding on a scalped ticket. Mrs. Albright has a suit pending against the railroad.
