Louisiana, and was the only cavalry on that frontier doing active outpost duty; were afterwards ordered to New Orleans for muster out; left New Orleans July I, 1865, with 355 officers and men; the regiment was revie wed at New Orleans by General Grierson, who complimented them on having turned over to the Quartermaster the best horses that had ever been in that Department; and, as a compliment
