I have telegraphed back obey no orders of Sherman, but to push forward as rapidly as possible. i The bankers here have information to day that Jeff. Thomas, that Wilson obey no orders frons S,ierman, and notifying him and Canby, and all commanders of the Mississippi, to take measures to intercept the rebel chiefs and their plunder.- The specie taken with them is estimated here at from six to thirteen million dollars. Signed U. W. Hai.lkck, Mtj Gen. Commanding. a" Mil Partlem lara of th Arrest of Uootli Washisotok, April 27. Yesterday a squadron of the 16th New York cavalry traced Booth and Harrold to a barn, between Bowling Green and Port Royal, near Fredericksburg, Va. Tbe barn was surrounded and a demand made for their surrender, which Harrold was in favor of doing, bat' npon Booth calling him a coward, hi refused to do so. The barn waa tben et on fire, and upon its getting too hot, Harrold again presented himself and pat his hands through the door to be hand-cuffed. While this wa going on, Booth 6red upon the soldiers, upon wWh i vvnr fired at bim. . Tbe ball ol ttm st-rcwuut tnnlt sffact in th hBil nf Ttnnth WTllinohim '. i ' - ' Harrold was ta'sen alive, and he and Booth' embody were broairht to the WaafeI idglon navy yard lust Dtght. ; When isoolb was discovored in the barn by the cavalry, he declared his in- ' tention never to sarrender, and said he would fight the whole squad, consisting of 28 men, if tbey would permit him to place himself 20 yards distant. , .The scouting party was coder the command of Lieut. Edward Dougherty. Booth was on a crutch and was Unie. He lived two hours after he was shot, whispering blasphemies against tbe Got. eminent, and sending a farewell message to bis mother. At the time ha. was shot, It is said, he was' leaning upon his cratch, and preparing to fire upon his captors. lbe btar bas tbe following particu lars of the capture of Booth: To Lieut Col. U V. Baker and his special detective of the War Department and bis admirably trained detective force, and the 15th New York cavalry, active participants in tbe seizure of criminals, the country owes a debt of gratitude for theif timely service.' It seems that a detachment of the 16th New York cavalry, numbering about 2 men, was dispatched from this city. cn Monday, under the direction of Col. Baker, in command of Lieut. Dougherty, accompanied by. some of Col. Baker s officers, who killed Booth and captured Harrold,' one of his accomplices, alive lbe cavalry alter leaving here landed at Belle Plaine in the night, and at once started out in pursuit ot llooth and Harrold, having previously ascertained from a negro that they bad crossed the river into Virginia, at Swan Point in a small canoe, hired by Baoih from a man for tsiUO. Proceeding on towards Bowling Green, some three miles from Port Boyal, Lieut. Dougherty, who was in command of the cavalry, discovered that Booth and Har rold were secreted in a large barn, owned by a man by tbe name of Garret, and were well armed. The cavalry then surroundel the barn and summoned Booth to surrenders Harrold was inclined at first to accord to the-request, but Booth accuued bim of cowardice, when both peremptorily refused to surrender, and made prepara tions to defend themselves. In order to take tbe conspirators alive, the barn was bred, and tbe names getting to hot for Harrold, he approached the door of the barn and signified his willingness to be taken prisoner, lbe door was tben opened sufficiently for to allow Harrold to put bis arms through tbat be might be band-cuffed As our officers were about placing the irons npon Harrold's wrists, Booth fired upon tbe party from ths bars, which was returned by the sergeant of the 16th New York, the ball striking Booth in tbe neck, from the effect of which he died in about four hours. Before breathing his last he was asked if he had anything to say, when he replied: "lell my mother that I died for tij country.'.' ., Harrold and the body of Booth were brought into Belle Plain at 8 o'clock last night, and reached the Navy Yard here at 1 o'clock this morning. . Tbe - statement heretofore pulIisbeJ, that Booth had injured one of his legs by the falling of his horse, proved correct After he was shot, it was discoved that one of his legs was badly injured, and that he was compelled to wear an old shoe and use crutches, which were found with him in the barn. Booth was shot about 4 o'clock in tbe morning and died about 7 o'clock. Booth bad upon his person some bills of exchange, but only $175 in Treasury notes. It appears that Booth and Harrold left Wasbingtou together on the night of the marder of President Lincoln and passed Leonardtown. The boat in which be crossed tbe river was captured, we understand, but he afterwards made his escape. Harrold has been lodged in a safe place Bowling Green, near which Booth was killed, is a post village of the capital of Caroline county, Virginia, on the road from Richmond to Fredericksbur, 45 miles from the former place. Port Roy-, al is a a post village in Caroline county, Va., on the right bank of the Rappahaenock river, 22 miles from Fredericksburg. - ' Pbiladblphia, April 27. About nine o'clock this morning, Mr. Edward Inger soil, who delivered a strong secession speech a few days ago in New York, wag waited npon by a committee of citizens on alighting from the railroad train at Ninth and Green streets, and was re
quested to apologize for tha speech. This Mr., Iogersoll refused to io, tod
drew a revolver from his pocket, hot was unable to fire it be tors he was knocked down and beaten by the crowd. He was arretted aad held to bail ia thw Bum of 12,000 on the charge of assault aad battery and carryiog concealed, deadly weapons. .
