W hare h?ard nothing to the contrary. Xerlvtla. Our exchanges from all parts of the country continue to notice the prevalence of a revival spirit. Bast and Weit the interest in spiritual matters iemi unflagging, and the conversions and additions to the churches are immensely numerous. The largest rorival that we bava noticed occurred in the Green Street Methodist Church in I'iijua, Ohio, under the administration of Rev. Granville Moody One hundred nnd eighty converts have been added h the church, and on ona occasion over 5(X persons partook of the sacrament at that church. In the Middle and New England States revival are progressing with marked success. In Europe the labors of the Protestant ministry are likewine bein? crowned with the most encouraging remits. At different points n Germtay protracted meetings bava been held, resulting in the coarsrsion of many who also connected themaelves with the church, . , 4 We learn from the Terra Haute Hiprtt chat the Rev, Lyman Abbott, pas tor of thrf Congregational Church in that city has resigned to acetyl the position of Corresponding Secretary of the Amercer! Union Commission, a new National organisation the object of which Is to provide homes and relief for the loyal refugee from the South. Mr. 'Abbott will hare general supervision of its operations, residing In New York city, but traveling considerably, especially ia the newly accesaable dietriot of the South. Wa leara from tba Itdgtr that two na church building, Third Presbyteri an and Episcopal, are to be erected la Kew Albany the coming season. A first class female college, under the patronage of Ht. Mary'e Catholic Church,' la also to be located la that city. A considerable number of th French bishop protested egainet the decree of ihm Government which forbid the pro mulgation of of th Pope'e Encyclical Two Bishop have read the Encyclical from their pulpits. Oa the other hand, at Italian Cardinal, Andrea, has avowed opposition to the bull. Th Papal police have been greatly pastied by the appearance of certain large flgortschalked over the walls in Rome in all directions. One morning ihe Bgaree were seven hundred and thirty, the cast seven hundred and Iwentj-oiut, -the nest seven hundred and twenty 'eight. The police have always erased them, but always on the following morning fresh ligaree, on lsa in value tnaa those ot tha preceding !, appeared. At last it was discovered tnat these figures represented the number of days that would elapse helore the evacuation of Koine i by the French troops. ' The Romaaa are counting tbe days to mat e"?m last a a.-schoolboy does the days, before tb holidays. ; f.- 4 The Jew." According tea calculation recently aiftde," aaya ibMoiUur, " there exists in the whole world nearly i..lKK) Jews, of whom one-half are ia Europe, especially in Russia, where there are l.O.OOU The number in Austria is 853.U00; in Prusia 24,500, and the rest of Germany, 42,000. At Frankfort-on-the-Maioa tber ia one Jew to aixteen Christians, ia Swaedea and Norway only on in six hundred. France contains c 0,000, England 42,000, and Switzerland 3,200. A remarkable fact is that in the countries where th Jews are complete! emancipated tbat is :ipati France. Beleium and fcnjland their number is diminishing, while elsewhere it ia increasing. Sine tha commencei meat of the present century the socie ties tor the conversion of tb Jews ($3 in number, and employing 200 mlssionariee,) have, at the most, and with great expense, mad 20,000 proselytes." - Bibla Burning ia Italy. A curious incident occurred a few day ago ia the Piedtaontese" town , of Gauatina. An agsnt of the Protestant Bible Association having made bi appearaace in the msrket of the town, began to sell Bibles. The easterners were rather numerous, and almost all belonged to the class of the rural nopulatieB. The rector of tbe parish, having beard t tne tact, hastened to assemble a geavral meeting of hia priests, s.t which a subscription was made to raise th neeSHHtavrV moneV for buying up all th Bibles the wander-
