We found time last night to witness two acts of the great historical drama, "La Tour dt A'esie, or The Chamber of Death," and although there were many shortcomings, there were many passages most admirably rendered. Mr. and Mrs. Golden both played their parts welf the Courtier and Exquisite, by Mrs. Golden, indeed, excellently welL The striking defect throughout the play was that but few of the actors were ell up in their parts. Indeed, this may be said of uearly all except Melissa Breelaw, Mrs. Golden, , Mr. Erskine, and perhaps Pierce. - .. . The dungeou scene iu the second act wa admirably rendered, and was highly applauded. We hopa to see this play produced agaiu when all the "characters will W fully up in their parts. It is an excellent play. AScir The number of rebi prisoners forwarded from Louisville sce, tbe 20lh of December, 1564, was three oundred and thirty six commissioned o!: cers, five thousand and ninety-four en" listed men," and six hundred fifty were to go yesterday, making a total of sis thousand eighty. IkaiP Quails fine, fat, young, healthy, feathered, teuder and wholesome, were sold in this city, this morning at fifteen cents a piece, by the dozen. Quite a reasonable fall, mathematically, iu figures, so far aa postal currency is concerned. We bean at once eating the birds, and liked 'em much. Xe Albany Ledger. . How can you be so unfeeling, Charley; as to speak of such luxuries. Here twenty-five cents each, by the dozen, in legal tendet or interest-bearing greenbacks, is the demand for this species of 'fow'l. ' " ''-

the quota of Pigeon Township by toIud- I tefcr. Thig is a matter of great import-1 ti, aace, and orje to which we have called the attention of the people several times already. Two thousand men in Pigeon tbe Township are liable to draft. Two huo- J dred soldiers are called for and must be I furnished. There are at least two hun- I dred individuals in our city who would 1 have do objection to volunteering, pro I vided a libera! bounty was paid by those ho stay at home to make money.
