' The river ie dectinioi' iteedilj with plenty of water still for the largest clasaJ of boat. . Yesterday wa another dull daj, scarcely any freight offering;. Tbe Gen. Anderson went out verv nht. The Science Na 2, we learn, w ordered bAck to Looisvill by tbe miliUry aathoritieA The Alice ha dropped down to the " Bone Tard." The Little Grey Kagle had a good trip down yesterday, including forty-six hogsheads of tobacco for Morris Ranger, and nearly one hundred package of miscellaneous freight. To oor surprise the magnificent Liberty No 2 arrived from Memphia at six o'clock laat evening, jat forty eight hoars end thirty minute out, three or four of which were lost by detentions of one kind or Another. Sho wa red into At llale's Point, oae large rifle or mnskei ball passing through her cabin, high above the heed of tbe people. Captain Conner thinks it wa the Act of a few reckless quirrel hunter or may guerrilUa. t We Also learn from CapL Conner And Mr. Judge that the Urge Government wherfboat At Mound City wa destroyed by fir jut a the Liberty wa pasting tbat point en Wednesday night. There was a larg amoant of government stores on the boat, and a considerable quantity of fixed ammunition, including shell in the hold, a knoBlede of which caused Capl. "tV1' to feel a strong anxiety to get ont of that neighborhood, aad he says he thought the wild Liberty never raa ae slowly a on that occasion. Tbe'wbarfboat was, however, scuttled in tim to prevent an explosion. The origin of Ihe fir wa not ascertained. Tbe Liberty discharged oe hundred and siity nine bale of cotton at thi port, conignd to Broen, Dunkenon A Co., which will go forr& to-day byl the Or eat Cotton Express of which they Are tbjAgent in thi city. yThe Liberty wa flying light, freights being very ecaree At Mem phi, and bnt little cotton in port The K. K. Konkarson had a nice trip for Ramsey, and left yesterday evening for thai historical port The VVatnadee came in from the Wabash Kiver yetterday morning with a moderate trip.- She return lo tbe Wabash to-dy. The Hilver Moon will be kre Ibis even, ing from Cincinnati, for Memphis, and tbe Alice Dean from Memphis, for Cincinnati. The big Missouri is due here lo-dy from New Orleans. . , , Tbe Charmer will keve At 4 o'clock thi evening for Nashville and all point intermediate on the Cumberland. She ba fin freight and passenger capacities And Accommodation, and is admirably o!Ucrd. Hall 4 liadd are her Agent. The following rebel steamers are aid to be atUl ia Dixit, Hod River, Above tbe furtberest point reached by our army: Mar, Kra Na 1, Era Na 2, Doubloon, JIT. Thompson, Missouri, new boat built at Shreveport, General Quitman, Eleanor, raoline, P. W. Roberta, Nw Er, Drover, Beaoregard, K. L Hodge, Milton P.air, Dick Blenker, Count, Louis d Or Frolick, Anna, and Dixie. The New Albany Ledger of Wednes day, says: Capi. John 8. Richer, of tbe steamer St Louis, ha contracted with George Armstrong, of thi city, far a new boat for tbe machinery of theSL LoutA She will be IZ-i feet long, 33 feet beam, and five feet depth of hold, with a foil cabin, and finished in good style. She will have an easy model, and will be a good traveler. CapL Richer,, we are gratified to learn, has had a most prosperous bootness season with tbe St. Looi a He merite success, for there is not a roor generon hearted officer on the Wasters weterx . . Tbe Cumberland river i falling, with 3 fret water on Harpeth SboaU. Passengers from below report that the rebel battery at Gairte'e Bend, which ha fired into the W. R, Arthur, Mueoart, Hoanejer and Curlew. Eighteen ebot (truck tb Arthnr, doing no damage farther than riddliDg the boat with bole in her upper works. Tbe MiSsoart and LTomeyer were not o fortnnnU, ai a bail paxsed through both boat, breaking both doctor engine, and killing a faaman doctor on the MUeoarL Ths coincidence is so singular tbat we disbelieved that part of tie story Altogether, bnt Memphis papers received since corro bo rite tbe fact of A battery having been wstablisbed atGaiae' Bend, but tbe story iven there Is a!o. tAtber confused, as it assert thAt tbe battery numbered ten fan, and yet wa driven awv or ilenced by the Curlew, which i net A gnnbcAt, And probably bad ao more then two gun of stn-U caliber. .
