Page for Morning From the Evansrillc Union, 27th. Greatly Mistaken. The Evansvillp THmes copied an article from our paper, relating to the State Convention, in which we condemned the course pursued by several persona, and that paper seems to "give itself up to great rejoicings over this, and is narrow-minded enough to think that because we disagree with a few persons as to the proceedings there, we are dissatisfied with the result. Greatly mistaken. Ev ansvile Times. We are not only satisfied with the nominations, but we will use every exertion to secure the success of our ticket and to uphold the principles of the Union party. The Democratic party can expect nothing but sound arguments, honest disenssiem and hard blows from the Evans- ' vile Union. Haerrlllas In Majfleld, Kentucky. We are informed that another guerrila outrage was perpetrated in Mayfield, Ky., i on Tuesday night last. About ninety ' guerrillas under the notorious Edmonds, of Tennessee, Milliken, of Paducab. and Kesterson, of Graves county, entered Mayfield and commenced an indiscriminate robbery of the Union citizens of the place. Their stores were broken in- ! to and rifled of their contents, horses and mules were seized and carried off, and every indignity conceivable heaped upon those who have heretofore stood true to the old flag. The miscreants erowued their work of. devastation by . murdering in cold blood a Union man by the name of .1. B. Happy. This act of assassination has treated the greatest, excitement, and, it is nut unlikely, may lead to acts of retalliatiou. The j guerrillas offered no insult to the " conservative chaps" at Mayfield, those who are continually whining about the nigger war, and throwing up their hats for McClcllan. Thii marked consideration has not in tie least tended to allay the excitement On the contrary, threats are fully indulged iu by the Union sufferers, of compelling the Copperheads, whose property was not disturbed, to bear their ' share of the loss resulting from the raid. This, we think, would be nothing more ! than right and proper. The guerrillas were guided in their op erations by a fellow named Bragg. For a long time he was a soldier in the rebel army. Deserting from that army, or pretending to do so, he took the Amnev oath and located in Mayfield. It seems, however, he was only a spy. I'or, the first favorable opportunity that presented itself, he betrayed those who had treated him so leniently, and pointed out their homes for the ruffians he had piloted into the town, to pillage aud destroy.
