The only case that appeared was that of Charley Kinkle, who was arrested by Chief Mauntel for disorderly conduct. Charley met Councilman Richardt after the adjournment of the Council, and became very abusive to him. The Chief of Police, hearing the abuse, advised Kinkle to go home, as he had twise before advised, but Kinkle refused, when Mr. Mauntel took possession of him. Kinkle made muscular objection, when Mr. Mauntel made an argument of the same kind, proving Lis side of the question beyond dispute. Kinkle obtained . a continuance to two o'clock this afternoon. Examination by the County Commit sloners, Township Truster, and City Council. The Committee of the whole Council, with the County Commissioners and Township Trustee, visited the cemeteries yesterday afternoon. They organized at Oak Hill Cemetery by the election of Mr. Wm. Heilman as Chairman. Mr. Philip Decker, President of the County Commissioners, referring to the road extending from Main Street, said the Commissioners not having the right to make any more improvements on this road more than on others, they were, however, disposed to co-operate with the Council to pay a little more attention to the Cemetery roads. s The discussion of the choice of roads to reach this cemetery was premature now, as this road was al ready iu condition to be traveled, having been graded and drain?! for eome time. He thought the county would pay one-half of the expense. Mr. Van Riper asked what other roads were referred to, and it was ex plained that the proposed extension of Oak Street, otherwise known as the canal route, was the route rcierred to, Vt. Iveller explaining that every street running up from Lamasco intersects the canal route, Mr. Bower, County Commissioner, said there was already a petition be fore the County Court, for the open iog of that route, and would be acted upon probably at the coming session. Mr. Van Riper proposed that . the committee now examine this cemete ry to see what improvements are needed here, and returning by the proposed route, consider it, proceed ing to Locust Hill and the other places to be examined. The committee, after a survey of the cemetery, returned to their carri ages, but ascertaining the "canal route" to be inaccessible for the om nibu3 in which most of the Council men drove out, they returned to the city by the route taken to reach Oak Hill, and proceeded to visit Locust Hill, parsing on the way several dis graceful goosa ponds and mud holes. to whioh Mr. Kerth, of the Seventh Ward, directed attention as nuisances that should be abated. The Committee, alter examining Locust Hill Cemetery and Franklin Street, and the lower bridge, and in dulging in much irregular discussion. appointed threo o'clock this afternoon for a meeting to decido what should be done in the matter. Jewish School Examination. The examination at the Jewish School yesterday was, as nsual, well attended by the parents and friends of the children. The exercises in English were reading from the second to the cixtn Readers; one class in grammar, and two classes in arithmetic, all of which were very satisfactory to teachers, parents and the school authorities. The exercises in German and He brew the reporter, on that occasion, was unacquainted with, hence we have no report. Serious Accident. Mr. Stroebol, a farmer, who lives about three miles from thia city, on the Mt. Vernon read, was seriously injured yesterday by being run over by a threshing ma chine. Mr. Stroebel was hauling the threshing machine, when his team getting frightened, ran away, throwing him from his seat, one of the mules kicking him as he fell. The ma chine passed over him, bruising his body shockingly, causing blood to gush from his ears, and inflicting a severe cut on his elbow. Dr. Comp ton was called in, and did all that could be done for Mx. Stroebel, who will necessarily he conuned for a long time by his injuries, but the Dec tor does not consider his nie in danger. &i?Our late townsman, Wm. II. Kinsman, was insured in the Atlantic Mutual Life, of Albany, New York, for fS.OOO, dating November 25, 1SG9, His funeral was attended June 1st, 1870. Proofs of loss were sent the Company by their agents, Jones & Gatcb, and on the 9:h, a draft for the full amount was sent the surviving widow. This speaks volumes in praise of life insurance, and the promptness of the payment is one of the recommending features of the Atlantic, as that is their "motto,' quick payments upon satisfactory proof of loss. What consolation it affords the bereaved ones to know that they have no delays to con tend with. We take pleasure in mentioning euah energy, as we were never before cognizant of. JDID. B EARD At 9 .
