The telegraph report concerning the ricFarland trial, now in progress in New i'ork, was quito lengthy, but so disconnected and unsatisfactory, that wo have omitted it altogether, supplying ita place with other matter of far mora iiaporlance.
()J our second pa go we print, this morning, au article from the Louisville Commercial on tho Port of Entry matter. It shows clearly the arxjiaMo and courteous spirit in which our Louisville friends arc disposed to regard tho eflfjrtu of Kvansvillo to improvo hei busincsH facilities. At tho very tirco tho editor vras wriliDg his 'tirade rgiiast our city, Louisville bad "been included in tho Port of Kntry bill with tho other cities. Wo hopo tho Indiana Congressmen will - stand firm and see to it tlat no contemptible jealousy on tho part of any cities, ia other States bo allowed to exclude ICvansvillo from the benefits of tho bill. Tho friends of the raeajuro cannot well do without the eleven votes from Indiana, and wo believe cur.Uongrcssnicn know their rights bdJ will fearlessly maintain them. The meanceps which characterizes ' tlys article ia tto Commircial, id- as contemptible as many of its statements aro false. .Evansviilo never sought to supplant Louisville, and if tho eJitor of tie Commercial bad known anything at all concerning tho matter, bo would havo known that cur city only did her beat to increase her own business facilities, without in tho least attempting to injure any of her competitors.
