Ossenberg, a quiet and gentlemanly musician, formerly leader of Golden's orchestra, was married yesterday, and himself and bride left on tha evening train. We mention as a joke that a lot of mischievous boys honored his residence. with a cluxrkari, nat knowing the twain were many miles away. ' Freight Book. The Journal J ub. Rooms and Bindery have just turned out a Freight Book for the Evansville Tobacco Warehouse, which was gotten up to the order of Martin, Gardner & Co. It is a book that is needed in every tobacco warehouse, and the other warehousemen are invited to cramino the book at M., G. & Co.'s office. Locust Street. The work of bowldering Locust Street will soon be finished, only a small gap remaining between Fourth and Sixth Streets. On some portions of the street the bowlders have been taken up and pit down two or three times, owing to some trouble with the gravel, we believe. - - White's Files for Newspapers, or any Magazine, is the best article .now in the market. ; Drilling. The Hook and Ladder Company, unacr tbc command ot Captain Loudeman, were out with the ladders last eight, drilling. They will soon learn to handle the ladders quite expertly. They think they will be able to give satisfaction when called on for duty. Missionary Meetino. St. Paul's Missionary Society will hold a meeting at St. Paul's Church this evening, and it is hoped that the entire congrtgation will bo presents Short addresses will bo made by Bevs. Van 'Antwerp and Burford, and by Col. Lighting the Gas Complaint is occasionally made that the city gas lamps are not lighted on many occasions when they should be.' The matter was- referred .to by Councilman Steinbach on Monday night, and the information was elicited that there is a certain rule, or ordinance, perhaps, that govcrn3 the matter.: It was stated that there are ten nights in each month in which the moon is "advertised to shine," and during those ten nighis, the gas in the city lamps is not lighted. The Railroad Accident. We learned yesterday, from passengers by the noon mail train, some further particulars about the accident on tho Indianapolis & Cairo Railroad, mention of which' we made yesterday. The. train consisted of the locomotive and tender, and one baggage, one passenger and two freight cars. The baggage; .car was precipitated down an embankment about thirty feet. The passengers ;in the passenger coach were more or less injured one person very seriously, we understand. No one was killed. The cause of the accident was owing to the track being too wide, made so to accommodate "compromise" cars. The wounded were all taken to Vincennes. Sent t to. Jail. MatilJa Blackburn'a mulatto woman, was arrested yesterday, jcharged" with larceny. A lot of quilts lost by Simon Gumberts, last June,, were .discovered by Tom Royston, who was at the house looking for some other articles. He was furnished vith a description of the quilts, when they were-; stolen, and recognized, them as ; soon ' as he saw them. She had as examination befora Recorder ' Willard, and was sent to jail lnr default of $200 bail.
