(a all occasions this ceremony, which, a the opinion of many, equals that of the Kpiscopal Church in solemnity and beauty, is n it gone through with in full. On this occasion, however, the Bishop read the entire service, which, by the way, is not long to weariness. Put it in some dry place for; several , weeks before using, sprea dout thin, so as to be ar!Vctly dry. 'Keep your apples o'l the trees fate as possible, out to be touched by the frost.- Pick in the mkl ik :f a pleasant day, "when perfectly dry. Sprinkle an inch of , the .-. latter oo. the bottom of the barrel. Place the ap;!es in layers ' very carefully on the saw-dust a row next to the stares, and the row next to tho: and son till you finish in the cantre with a single apple. Covr this j;:yor' with pawdast, and socontitiue until the barrel is full, with a l iyer of fruit and a layerof sawdust, leaving an inch or more of the latter on the top. "lo this wny th ; Hrest keepers will be perfectly sound the fourth of next July, and they will Ui perfectly iresh, in per fact order, aud flavor unimpaired. Packing in sawdut has many advantages over sah.'. First, it is so much lighter, and adU nothing to the erpeiies of freight. Second, the sawdust absorb all the moisture and : w.at from the apple, Third, if by clunce an' apple rots, it cannot contaminate its neighbors by com ing in contact with them. If the barrels are made as tight as they should be, tlisj fruit will be kept from the air. and come out a good as if canned The above is 119 theory or guess wmk. but has been tested for peveral Mrs. I have racked many a barrel which kept perfectly good as late aa above stated. , ifteeB FoHIes. Thirteenth lo presume to repeat ater in life, without injury, the in discretions, exposures and intemper ances which in the flush -of.yi.uth, were practiced with impunity. fourteenth lo believe that warm air is necessarily impure, or that pure,! cold air is oecessarily moro healthy than the confined air of close and crowded vehicles; the latter, at lhe most, can ouly cause tainting and nausea, while entering a conveyance after walking briskly, lowering a window thus while still, exposed to a draft will give a cold infallibly, or an attack of pleurisy or pneumonia which will cause weeks and months of suffering, it not actual death within four days.
