Governor Baker spoke at Indianapolis to one of the largest audiences of the campaign, on Saturday evening last, and was received with great enthusiasm. The speech is published in full in tho Journal, and is a very able document. The Sentinel is forced to admit that his speech was very forcible and well received by the people. Who are the Leaders? It was a noticeable feature of the New York Convention that the old and prominent Copperheads and Sena of Liberty of the North were the mo3t influential actors, and that they, with the aid of the Rebel delegates, were enabled to have their own way. None were more distinguished in that body than Vallandigham, of Ohio, and Bioler, of Pennsylvania, Forrest, of Tennessee, and Hampton, of South Carolina. And these same men have been the most prominent in advocating the claims of Seymour and Blair bofore the people. We have heretofore referred to Wade Hampton's speeches in tho South. Oj Saturday last were held two of the largest Democ-atic meetings ever assembled in Indiana; one at Fort Wayne, addressed by C. L. ValLANdiguam, and the other by L. P. Milugan, near Logansport. ValLANDIGIIAM in his speech used considerable policy, and was more careful in his utterance of sentiments, but Millioan did not hesitate to throw off the mask, and declare the honest santiments of the leaders of the party. After referring to the despotism of majorities by which the Democracy had been so greviously oppressed the past eight years, he spoke of the action of the New York Convention as follows: Before that convention met I was not in lavor of puyina; off the bonds in greenbacks. It will be remembered . that this Millioan was the distinguished Indiana Son of Liberty traitor, who was .sentenced to be hung for his treason in 13,'i, and only spared through the interposition ot Governor Morton. Thi traitor and repudiator is highly pjeased with the Democratic nomination. He says: " The more I contemplate that nomination the better I am satisfied with it. It had been asserted in a Cincinnati paper that I was in favor of organizing a third party. After reflecting on all the material at the Convention, iloratio Seymour commanded my highest veneration. I saw in him. a statesman who never sought the office of President; under whose grujl aoce we shall be secured from til iujuro aggressions, and upon whose Knowledge we can rely for protection' Sueh are the leaders of the Democratic party to-day. And it is expected that the loyal people of this ccuntry wai give them sufficient aid at the PwLa to secure their return to office and power. Barnabas C. It must also be remembered that the Rermblican nominee for Vice President is one of the most Borjular men in the State, and will be voted for by thousands who differ from him politically. The recent election in New Albany, a strong Democratic city, where the usual Democratic majority was re duced four or six hundred, is not a nromisine indication for Mr. Seymour. We put down Indiana as sure for Grant and Uollax. Seymour asks what has been done with the money collected during the last eight years.' Republicans reply, spent in prosecuting a war of which such as he were the cause, and in es tablishing civil governments In States where life and property were insecure through the sympathy rebels received from such men as Horatio Seymour. In 1SG4 the Democratic party was for peace, and now it is for war.
