The river rose 2 feet during the twenty-four hours ending at 3 o'clock yesterday, and lacks but 11 inches of the late high-water mark. The arrivals and departures up to 3 o'clock yesterday include the Armada, from Cairo; St. Marys, Cincinnati to St. Louis; Mollie, Norton and Newsboy, Henderson to return; Rob Roy, to Cincinnati ; Ollie Sullivan and Chattanooga, to Wabash River; Minyoung, to Carmi. IioMtn Anf. , Among the first boats due here are the Anna, for St. Louis; Havana, for Nashville; St. Patrick.from Memphis; Louisville, Indiana, Dexter and Rich mond, from New Orleans; Westmoreland, Nick Longworth and Louisiana, for New Orleans; Zanesville and Louisa, from Wabash River; Peoria City, for Missouri River; Quickstep, from Cairo; Nightingale, from Cincinnati; Emma Floyd, from Nashville; Sam Orr, from Eastport; Lin ton, from Ciarksville. For Cairo. The grand Armada, Captain Gus. Du.souehet, is the unrivaled packet for Cairo and all way ports at 4 o'clock to-day. She has superior appointments, and is ol ex cellent speed. Will. P. Fowler and George Nichelson are her courteous and obliging clerks, and no pleasauter gentlemen grace any office on the river. She should be filled to her capacity to-day. For Louisville. The splendid Tarascon is the regular packet for Louisville and all way laudiugs at 6 o'clock this evening. She h excelled no where in fine appointments or speed. Capt. A. T. Oilmore is her veteran and experienced corumauder, and Miles D. Warren is her chief clerk, a gentlemau of rare excellence And unexampled popularity. P. B. Branham is her freight clerk. For Cincinnati. The fine passenger steamer Pine Grove, Capt. John Terrill, will leave for Cincinnati this evening at 5 o'clock. R. W. Wise is her courteous and highly accom plished ; clerk. Passengers going through to Cincinnati will find this an unsurpassed opportunity of going on a good boat, with genial and, highly social officers. For Green River. The beautiful Ada Lyon, the pride of the Green River line, is the regular and unrivaled packet for six o'clock this evening for Woodbury and all way landings. Captain Alf. Edwards is her admirable and courteous commander, and John Adams is her popular and pleasant clerk. The Ada never fails to get a good trip. For Eastport. The excelleut steamer Lewellin, Capt. Wood, with J. P. Veal, a most obliging gentleman in the office, leaves for Eastport and all way ports at five o'clock this evening. We recommend her to passengers and shipper-. For Henderson. The Moiiie Norton, an e'ecant side-wheel steamer, leaves for Hendert-on at 3 o'clock. Captain Charley Perkins, and Ed. and Robert Ttrry are her popular officers. The New.-boy. with pleasant accommodations, goes to Hender.-ontat 3 o'clock to-day. Captaiu W. H. Sheffer and Willie Huston are the pleasant gentlemen in charge. 9t ix-ell wieous. The shipments were large, St. Louis freights being shipped at very low figures. Cincinnati. The Commercial of Sunday says: Captain Dan. I7. Clark returns home to Goiconda to-day, on the mail-boat. Mr. Thomas Lee, of Paducah, was in the city yesterday prospecting for a packet for the Paducah and Cairo trade. The Commercial of Monday says: The flood limits the wharf space at the upper landing to two squares be tween Main aud Broadway, while there is no room to spare, aside from the mouths of the streets, below the bridge. The river was still rising rapidly last night, with considerable drift floating past the city. Messrs. N. & E. W. Parker, on Saturday, sold the towboat Petrel No. 2 to the Pomeroy Salt Transportation Company tor $15,000. The towboat bam. Parker takes the place ot the Petrel No. 2 iu the Kanawha River and Pomeroy trade. Mr. Will. Cecil is officiating in the office of the St. Marys. It was rumored along the levee yesterday that Capt. Rusk had traded the Empire to Capt. Val. Horton for his interest one-third of the Alaska. The Gazette of Monday says: The officers of the Edinburgh report that on Monday morning the Muskingum River was higher than it had been for more than ten years, and was rising three inches per hour. It was washing around the locks, and fears were entertained that a channel would be cut. The first lock was carried away, as a gate was observed floating near llarmer, which had evidently been carried away. It is thought, however, that navigation on that river will be suspended. Several small towns have been flooded. It is reported, too, that the Kanawha, Hocking and Scioto rivers are pouring out strong. Sr. Louis. The Democrat of Monday says: Weather warm, clear sky and bright sunshine. River still falling slowly all day yesterday, and it is now thought there will be neither a great nor a little swell. Upper rivers all in good condition; Illinois and Missouri on the rise, and Mississippi falling. Business is good in them all. In the twelve arrivals of yesterday, all full of freight and passengers, were five steamers from tue Ohio, overflowing with immigrants to the West, besides being generally loaded to the guards. The wharves and harbor of St. Louis at present has an appearance of great commercial and industrial prosperity. Charles Thorndike, late of the Stonewall, is now clerk of the War Eagle. . Capt. J. W. Kountz, among the other excellent arrangements he has made for his line, has entered into one with the Isabella. Capt. Lloyd T. Belt, and the Sam. Gary. These boats will go up the Missouri at the proper time to meet the Kountz line upon" their return, taking their cargoes and passengers, and receiving their trip in return. Thus the Ivountz packets will be enabled to visit Fort Benton twice this year with ease and certainty. Striker whaled away at the bovine, with a file, striking the atjimal on the horns. Bovine whisked its tail, caught striker on the
